🚓 School Parking Reminder – Tibshelf Secondary School

PCSOs were present at Tibshelf Secondary School today during the home time period to monitor parking and road safety.

A number of parents and carers were spoken to regarding the positioning of their vehicles, as there appeared to be some confusion around parking restrictions.

As a POLITE reminder:

🔹 Parking near junctions
Parking within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction is governed by Rule 243 of the Highway Code, which clearly states that you should not stop or park within this distance. Parking in this manner is considered dangerous as it restricts visibility for all road users.
Parking at or near a junction may be treated as an offence of unnecessary obstruction of the road, which can result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN), a fine, or in some circumstances vehicle removal by the police or local authority.

🔹 Double yellow lines
Parking on double yellow lines is prohibited at all times, including Sundays and bank holidays, unless a specific exemption applies. These restrictions normally extend from the edge of the road to the property boundary, including pavements and verges.
Officers considerations were taken into account where some parents were displaying valid Blue Badges, and appropriate discretion and exemptions were applied where necessary.

Further patrols will be carried out in the area; however, we hope this post helps to clarify the rules and that we HOPE the parents and the community supports safer dropping off and collection arrangements moving forward.
